Ben Stiller was born on a Tuesday, November 30th 1965 to the famous 60's comedy duo Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, who toured the country with their act during much of his youth. They appeared on the Carol Burnett show some 30 times, and on one occasion, they brought little Benji Stiller along with them to play chopsticks on a violin for television viewers worldwide. After his debut, Ben couldn't manage to stay away from Hollywood, and during his teen years he produced and directed many short films with a Super 8 camera that his father had bought for him. Ben also stated once that the Pips (of Gladys Knight) were the folks who first taught him to swim. Ben had always dreamed of being a director, as opposed to going into comedy as his parents did, but after attending UCLA for a few precious months, he dropped out to persue acting. He wrote, produced, and directed a short film parody of 'The Color of Money' titled 'The Hustler of Money' in which he played Tom Cruise. He even cajoled his father into taking on a small role. People at Saturday Night Live realized the promise that Ben had to offer, and after he sent in an audition tape of him portraying a grown-up Eddie Munster in Brooklyn, Ben was hired as a writer. He wrote for a short while, and soon began appearing in skits. Not long after he abandoned SNL, Ben got his own pilot on MTV- a sketch comedy show with his name in the title, which was sold to FOX in 1993. After that, Ben directed Reality Bites, the cult classic, and his career has skyrocketed ever since.
